Training Programs & Resources
Ontario college Personal Support Worker programs require an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, and generally require a grade 12 English credit. Additional recommended or required credits may include senior biology, communications or health.
Please note: PSW educational programs have to comply with a provincial standard, available here. This standard applies to PSW programs offered at private career colleges, publicly funded colleges and through school boards. Employers usually require certification when hiring for PSW positions and PSW training is required when working in long-term care homes.
Please Note: All PSW training programs must comply with the Ontario’s government’s Personal Support Worker Program standard.
