What do PSWs do?

PSWs assist with activities of daily living, such as preparing meals, feeding, lifts and transfers, bathing, dressing, brushing hair, brushing teeth, helping with daily exercise, and foot care.

PSWs also assist with medication and/or medication reminders, or help with daily exercises and routines that help a person regain their independence.

Some PSWs also perform housekeeping duties, such as laundry, cleaning, washing dishes, and generally helping clients with housekeeping tasks they cannot perform themselves.

Importantly, PSWs also provide companionship.

Sometimes just spending time with the client is all that’s needed to make someone’s day.
